Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 9, 2026

StudyTrack ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information when you use the StudyTrack mobile application ("App"). We never sell your data. The App works fully offline with no account; the optional cloud backup & sync feature uses your own Google account. On Android, the free version of the App shows occasional opt-in video ads to unlock one specific feature (see section 1e) — Premium users see no ads at all.

1. Information We Collect

a. Personal Information

The App does not require you to create an account. We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or precise location on our servers — in fact, we operate no servers. If you choose to enter an optional display name, it is stored locally on your device and is included in your personal Google Drive backup only if you enable cloud sync (see section 1c). It is never sent to us.

b. Study Data

Your study sessions, focus time, subjects, goals, achievements, and other study information are stored locally on your device. This information is not transmitted to our servers, and stays on your device unless you choose to enable cloud backup & sync (see section 1c).

c. Cloud Backup & Sync (Google Drive)

StudyTrack offers an optional, premium cloud backup & sync feature. It is turned off by default and is only activated when you sign in with your Google account. When enabled:

A manual, fully offline backup option (exporting and importing a file) is also available and never uses the network or a Google account.

d. Anonymous Usage Analytics

We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics that help us understand how the App is used and improve its performance and features. Examples of events we may collect include starting or completing a study session, viewing screens, using widgets, changing the app theme, completing onboarding, and interacting with app features.

These analytics are associated with a randomly generated application identifier. We do not send your name, email address, phone number, study notes, subject names, goals, or other personally identifying information to PostHog.

e. Advertising (Google AdMob)

On Android, the free version of the App shows rewarded ads through Google AdMob. These are strictly opt-in: an ad is only ever shown after you tap "Watch a short ad" to unlock an optional action — such as logging a past study session; exporting, sharing, or importing a backup of your data; or opening your weekly recap card or your monthly Study Wrapped. The App shows no banner ads, no pop-up ads, and no ads on launch or between screens.

Premium users see no ads. If you own the Premium unlock, the advertising SDK is never started, no ad is ever requested, and none of the data described below is collected for advertising.

Google's handling of this data is governed by How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and Google's Advertising policies.

2. How We Use Information

Anonymous analytics are used solely to:

Your locally stored study data is used only to provide the App's functionality on your device.

Advertising data (section 1e) is used by Google to serve and measure the rewarded ads that keep the free version of the App free, and to detect invalid or fraudulent ad activity. We use it for no other purpose, and we receive none of it ourselves.

3. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

4. Your Choices

Analytics collected through PostHog use a random application identifier rather than directly identifying information. You can reset this identifier by clearing the App's data or reinstalling the App.

If analytics consent is required by applicable law in your region, we will request your permission before collecting analytics data.

Cloud backup & sync is optional and off by default. You can enable or disable it, and delete your Google Drive backup, at any time from Settings → Backup & Sync. Turning it off keeps all of your data local to your device.

Advertising. Ads are never shown unless you choose to watch one, and you can simply decline. To remove ads entirely, purchase the Premium unlock — the advertising SDK is then never started. You can also reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time from your device's Settings → Google → Ads, which limits how ads are targeted and measured. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you can change or withdraw your advertising consent at any time from Settings → About → Ad privacy choices.

5. Data Security

Data transmitted for analytics is encrypted in transit using secure network connections. If you enable cloud backup & sync, your backup is stored in a private, app-only folder in your own Google Drive and is protected by Google's encryption in transit and at rest. We take reasonable measures to protect the information collected by the App.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
